Paul King – Song Pitchers Publishing, ASCAP, 2007
It’s not as if I just sit around, eating bon-bons, and gaining pounds,
watching tv, I don’t know what’s on tv.
I wish Calgon could take me away, cause I would go,
Any place but here, not that I don’t love it here …
But there’s dinner to fix and homework to do
And my son came home with a new tattoo, that his friends said,
Made him look so cool … He’s five …
I’m not complaining, I’m just sayin’
That only a mom knows what I’m going through,
I love my family, I wouldn’t trade for anything,
But I sure could use a break, a day or two,
To catch up on my sleep, but what’s a 5 Day Work Week …
And I’d feel like a millionaire, if I had back,
All the hair, I’ve lost, look at how much hair I’ve lost,
I can’t blame it all on stress, cause I’m tired,
I need some rest, I’ve tried, Lord knows how hard I’ve tried …
The dishes need washed, the yard needs mowed,
And my little girl thought the flour was snow and she’s covered,
Covered head to toe … She’s only three …
I’m not complaining, I’m just sayin’
That only a mom knows what I’m going through,
I love my family, I wouldn’t trade for anything,
But I sure could use a break, a day or two,
To catch up on my sleep, but what’s a 5 Day Work Week …
Just a minute to myself, that’s all I need,
And I won’t ask for nothing more … great, there’s a knock at the door …
I’m not complaining, I’m just sayin’
That only a mom knows what I’m going through,
I love my family, I wouldn’t trade for anything,
But I sure could use a break, a day or two,
To catch up on my sleep, but what’s a 5 Day Work Week …
